Hello Volunteers,

Neighbor 2 Neighbor is an outreach agency helping neighbors in need in East Austin. For our DRIVE-THRU diaper program, we are looking for volunteers to help us load diaper orders into neighbors cars. Our DRIVE-THRU window runs from 3:00 to 6:00pm, however volunteers need to show up at 2:55pm to help set up.

Welcome Table, Inc. provides assistance to families in east Austin to improve their lives through better nutrition, better health care, healthier lifestyles, spiritual growth, and cultural diversity activities.

Description

Welcome Table, Inc., under the auspices of Proyecto Santiago, concerns itself with issues in the Hispanic, African-American, and minority neighborhoods. Its outreach effort includes:

  1. Providing student and teach assistance at Norma Elementary ti improve student perfromance and create community around the school (includes reading with students, music for kids, mentoring, teacher appreciation events, and other projects)
  2. Organizing direct services for the community (such as a wills clinic by UT Law students, as they have done during spring break in south Texas).
  3. Discussing and presenting organizational skills to address community problems (such as coordinating and leading a presentation to the school board, city council, or appropriate agency). Leadership for such occasions is on part of, and by, community members. The emphasis is on community empowerment.
