In January of 2021, we will be launching our Saturday food pantry. During food pantry we distribute boxes and bags of non-perishables, produce, meat and dairy to our neighbors. In addition to our normal food pantry days, Saturday pantry will take place every 2nd and 4th Saturday from 9AM to noon. In addition to packing bags and boxes of food, volunteers may be asked to restock the shelves, repack items into smaller quantities, and to help keep the pantry clean.
Spanish speaking volunteers may be asked to help assist with translation.
In response to COVID-19, we have changed our regulations:
Only volunteers and staff are allowed into the building
All staff and volunteers working the food pantry must wear a mask and gloves at all times
Neighbors are encouraged to stand six feet apart and will be given masks if they do not have one

For more than 30 years, Westminster Neighborhood Services, Inc. (WNS) has provided basic resources and education opportunities for at-risk children and families on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis. While nationally 19.1% of people report income at or below the poverty level, here in Westminister’s neighborhood, that number is a staggering 43%.
Beginning as an ecumenical program offering summer activities for children, WNS grew and today includes afterschool, intercession, and summer programming for children and youth, a preschool, a food pantry, a soup kitchen a clothing closet, a partnership with Genessaret Free Clinic, and a Christmas Basket distribution program.
Today, Westminster is an inner city neighborhood with exponential needs, where families struggle with poverty, stress, illiteracy, joblessness and substance abuse. WNS’s programs are built on a strong foundation of volunteering and support by individuals, congregations, foundations, businesses, and civic and professional organizations.
Westminster is dedicated to help those in need with a focus on a hand-up rather than a hand out. We provide services that support families as a whole, focusing on the needs of all family members as a unit. When families are supported and self-sustaining they are able to turn outwards and transform their own community.
