In 1910 Dr. Jennie Schofield and a group of volunteers founded the not-for-profit "Wheel Chair Home" for the elderly in Western New York. Today Schofield continues to provide quality health care services in our 120 bed skilled nursing facility on 5 beautifully landscaped acres in the Town of Tonawanda.

Schofield's volunteers are as varied as the individuals we serve. They offer a minimum of 50 hours per year during weekdays, weekends or evenings at a mutually convenient time. There are many ways to share your time and talents including:wheelchair transport; friendly visitor; outdoor companion; reader/letter writer, escort to off premise outings or physician appointments; activities assistant; entertainer(musician, vocalist, dancer, artist, crafter, card player,etc.)or suggest your own outlet for social interaction.

Terms: Car Required - Must Provide Own Transportation, Site is handicapped accessible

Other Information Requested of Volunteers: criminal background checks, immunization history & test, references, work/volunteer experience
