Do you love working with people? Are you looking for a long term volunteer commitment? If yes, then our CORE Mentorship opportunity is for you!
Black and Latinx Americans have been disproportionately affected by COVID, especially here in South Los Angeles. Many South LA families were already economically vulnerable before the pandemic. But furloughs, reductions in wages and hours, and lack of access to educational resources for their children have increased their financial and emotional strain. Many are now at risk of slipping from poverty to extreme poverty or homelessness.
To respond to these challenges, the COVID Retraining & Recovery (CORE) Fund-an educational and career-building initiative is providing 200 Scholarships to South Los Angeles residents who have been furloughed, laid-off, or work hours reduced by 50% to retrain in the health care or technology fields.
Leverage your interpersonal skills, career experience, and network to provide meaningful support to our CORE Scholars. Through this mentorship experience, you will help people through their academic program and into a new career.
Your help can advance the lives of our CORE Scholars who are pursuing vocational degrees in healthcare and technology by helping them prepare for and find job placements to help transform their lives.
SoLa I Can matches you with a compatible South Los Angeles Scholar to take under your wing for 1 year and provide ongoing mentorship, career coaching, and support.
