Have you or someone you know been discriminated against in employment? Actively or passively, ageism impacts job seekers and employees along the age spectrum. The Age Equity Alliance is a grass roots organization that is committed to eradicating ageism in employment and to ensure age equity in the workplace through education, training and process evaluation. Our vision is to establish age equity as a core value for every workplace.

We are seeking a WordPress designer to help us improve our web site, implement new features and functionality. This position requires a combination of design, aesthetics (understanding things like element arrangements on the screen and color and font choices), and coding skills (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP). This is a volunteer position and we are seeking volunteer(s) who can provide 5 to 10 hours a week. This is an open ended project assignment.

Design an inviting and interesting website, elevating mission, vision and inspiring a desire to partner, learn more, join our mailing list. Must also be able to provide solutions for showcasing research, video and audio clips of sample work, and create a system for soliciting and collecting donations.

Skills and Qualifications

* Demonstrated experience designing and implementing responsive WordPress websites that work across all popular browsers.

* Knowledge of the Genesis framework desired, but not mandatory.

* Expert understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery

* Familiarity with PHP

* Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.

* Professional experience converting wireframes into working, responsive, WordPress web pages

* Knowledge of how to interact with APIs and formats (JSON, XML)

* Ability to work independently with little supervision yet work well with team members.
