About Brazilian Center for Cultural Exchange of Sacramento

Mission Statement

The mission of the Brazilian Center for Cultural Exchange of Sacramento (Brazilian Center) is to serve and enrich Sacramento by fostering a thriving and inclusive multicultural community by sharing art, food, music, dance, and performing arts to create cultural awareness, peace, tolerance, and a better world. Due to the need for social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Brazilian Center is unable to host the festivals and performances that are a staple of our community-building and arts programming. Instead, we are using our industrial kitchen and volunteers to provide food to Sacramentans experiencing increased food insecurity as a result of COVID-19. Specifically, we prepare and deliver hot, nutritious meals to unsheltered homeless individuals and low income seniors. In addition, we provide groceries to families having trouble making ends meet.

We are currently looking for volunteers to help us prepare and run for our biggest fundraiser of the year, 10th Anniversary Brazilian Carnaval 2022. This fundraiser will help our non-profit continue to provide community services to the unsheltered, at-risk homeless teenagers and low-income seniors.
Tasks include: prepping food, cooking, cleaning, site maintenance, repairs, costume making/fixing, prepping decorations, sweeping, mopping, and much much more. During the Carnaval fundraiser, we will need help at different stations, including the kitchen, food station, etc... We are continuously looking for help with grant writing, electrical work, woodworking skills, and much more.
This fundraiser is so important to us and the community. We want to continue to help people in need but would like to include you in our family too.
