Summary: Through our Medical Gift-In-Kind program, Free Wheelchair Mission provides the communities we serve with essential medical supplies such as masks, gloves, needles, syringes, blankets and much more, in addition to mobility-assistance devices and support, including wheelchairs, walkers, and canes. Through generous donations from medical supplies in the United States, Free Wheelchair Mission is able to donate gift-in-kind (GIK) medical supplies to distribution partners around the world.

As part of our due diligence, the goal of this project is to check the accuracy in pricing as provided by the supplier. Accordingly, as we receive and distribute these supplies to those most in need, we aim to efficiently check the value of the medical, surgical and pharmaceutical supplies and equipment. We are seeking the help of skilled volunteers who can help us research these items so that we can confirm the fair market value of each container of GIK supplies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Under the advisement of Free Wheelchair Mission staff, volunteers will follow training and written process and procedure to research given items from GIK packing lists on pre-approved medical distributor websites. Once the volunteer feels the closest item (in terms of supplier, model number, size, etc.) is found, the volunteer will record required information to online spreadsheet (Smartsheet). Volunteer will follow up with Free Wheelchair Mission staff on any irregularities or issues they find throughout the process.

Requirements: Volunteers will work remotely and must have access to their own computer with reliable internet connection. Volunteers must be able to work independently and must be comfortable with researching and data entry. Knowledge or familiarity of medical terminology is required. Volunteers with experience in the following fields are preferred:

  • Skilled Clinical Medical Technicians
  • Medical Doctors, Surgeons, Nurses
  • Medical & Surgical Sales Professionals
  • Medical, PT/OT Students
