ORGANIZATION: COMMUNITY ACTION FOR IMPROVEMENT INC

Purpose & Impact of Position: Are you a professional accountant, banker, or just someone who prides themselves on their financial knowledge?  We are looking for motivated individuals to help coach our clients and host  workshops, educating on topics such as budgeting, credit scores,  and loans! At CAFI, we work on building self-sufficiency and self-esteem with our low-income clients. By assisting our clients  with financial education, you may be the missing step in ending the cycle of poverty for someone.  

Key Responsibilities: Coaches will work with our program coordinator to create educational opportunities in areas that will most benefit the  clients. Coaches will host at least a monthly education session with 5-15 clients online or in person.  CAFI will provide all the necessary technology and printing.  

Required Skills:

  • Must  be financially literate and  competent enough to teach others.
  • Must be sensitive to barriers that families living in poverty experience
  • Must have a background or experience in finance
  • Must be able to approach, display and communicate with a wide range of personalities in a professional and courteous manner

Preferred Skills: Previous experience as an educator is always a plus!  

Time Commitment:Willing to work with the volunteer's schedule but must commit to  hosting a workshop on a monthly basis. Workshops should be an average of 45 minutes  with time allowed for questions. Depending on the volunteer, this will require at least an hour of preparation as well as communication with the program coordinator

Site/Supervisor: This opportunity will occur at our main office in LaGrange, Georgia. Although this position may involve direct work with the Program Coordinators, the main line of communication and supervisor will be with the Volunteer Coordination Specialist.

Through personalized case management, energy conservation education, employment readiness programs and youth empowerment services- CAFI provides services at over 5 service center locations throughout the state of Georgia.
