ORGANIZATION: The Laurel Foundation

The Laurel Foundation is non-profit organization that provides education and support programs for children, youth, and families living with HIV/AIDS (Camp Laurel) and transgender/gender diverse youth (Camp Mulberry). We want to take a moment and wish you all safety and wellness during these challenging times. We know that many children and families are struggling with the adjustments of life at home. With that said, we are still hopeful that our Winter Camp program will take place and that we can provide that safe and fun space for our camp community to transition back into everyday life. We cannot predict where things will be in the next few months, but if there is anything that camp has taught us, it is that we are resilient. With the joint effort of our staff, donors, and volunteers, we are confident we will be able to adapt to circumstances and still serve our populations to the best of our abilities. I would like to invite you all to be part of this magical experience that is Camp Laurel! There are still so many things to look forward to and we want camp to be one of them! #itsforthekids When you volunteer with The Laurel Foundation as camp counselors, it will be because you want to change the life of a child, but what you will discover is that your life will also be changed tremendously, and you will grow in ways you never thought possible. By volunteering with The Laurel Foundation, you will become part of a vast network of creative, passionate and talented individuals working in a variety of socially dynamic professions, but most importantly you will become part of a community that feels like family. Volunteering at Camp Mulberry or Camp Laurel is a great way for you to develop behavior management skills, gain valuable experience working with high-risk populations, and to grow professionally and personally. More specific information is below.

Mission Statement

Committed to improving the lives of children living with HIV and AIDS, we believe that every child has the right to experience the wonder of childhood. Through our programs we strive to contribute to the development of each child’s self esteem, self-awareness and self-fulfillment. The mission of The Laurel Foundation is to empower children, youth and families affected by HIV/AIDS through educational and support programs in a safe and trusting environment. While HIV/AIDS is often an isolating illness because of negative social stigma and the sickness or loss of a parent, The Laurel Foundation aims to eradicate this isolation through a comprehensive approach, including residential camps, mentorship, life enhancement workshops, ongoing support programs and collaborative partnerships.
