Lead/Facilitate virtual programming and troop meetings as part of the GSUSA Virtual Stater Troop initiative. Starter Troops are facilitator-run troops with the goal of transitioning to a fully functioning, volunteer-led troop. Volunteers will be trained by Council Staff and facilitate multiple meetings over a span of 4-6 weeks experiencing a variety of purposeful troop activities,participating in Girl Scout traditions, and exploring various topics in accordance with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE).

TIME COMMITMENT:

  • Volunteer Onboarding Training (offered asynchronously through gsLearn): 60-90 minutes
  • Virtual Stater Troop Specific Training
  • Pre-meeting prep work: approximately 1-2 hours
  • Girl Scout Virtual Troop Meetings: 60-90 minutes meetings

PRIMARY TASKS:

  • Facilitate virtual troop meetings with Girl Scouts in accordance with the GSLE
  • Assist Girl Scouts in earning badges from their program level
  • Build sustainable membership by supporting Girl Scouts and their families in their introduction to Girl Scouting, identifying and mentoring potential leaders, and connecting them to council staff for additional details on continuing their involvement
  • Coordinate technical challenges to ensure the best possible experience for Girl Scouts
  • Coordinate with council staff to ensure dates, times, and details are set up for each meeting
  • Host troop meetings using a GSUSA licensed Zoom account and engage with Caregivers to ensure Girl Scout participation
