ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross of Nebraska-Iowa Region

Purpose: Oversee the utilization and access to Volunteer Connection, the official American Red Cross volunteer management system.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Departmental Champion of Volunteer Connection
  • Provide expert support and guidance to department in the proper and maximized utilization of Volunteer Connection
  • Establish an ongoing Volunteer Connection training calendar
  • Conduct Volunteer Connection training, using official American Red Cross training materials for volunteers and volunteer supervisors
  • Serve as depart Volunteer Connection expert
  • Serve as a member of the National Headquarters Volunteer Connection Super User Group to support ongoing testing and new initiatives involving Volunteer Connection

Time Commitment: Approximately 4 hours per week, working on site and remotely

Qualifications:

  • Enthusiastic about the Red Cross programs and Mission
  • Proven leadership in non-profit or for profit organizations
  • Cultural Sensitivity to diverse audiences
  • Knowledge and understanding of Red Cross services and operations and opportunities for volunteer service
  • Work well both individually and with others
  • Relevant, complementary management and/or technical skills/operational experience
  • Relationship building skills working collaboratively with staff/volunteer partners as well as board members, and senior management
  • Understand the value of volunteers and provide leadership and support to ensure volunteers are productive and have a mutually rewarding experience

Description

Since our founding by Clara Barton on May 21, 1881, the American Red Cross has been dedicated to serving people in need. We received our first congressional charter in 1900 and to this day we are tasked by the federal government with providing services to members of the American armed forces and their families as well as providing disaster relief in the United States and around the world.

Today, as throughout our long history, the Red Cross depends on generous contributions of time, blood, and money from the American public to support our lifesaving services and programs.
