Coats for Kids Volunteers

During cold Midwest winters, it is hard to fathom that there are many children in our community without a warm winter coat. Particularly in this pandemic year, there is a greater need than ever in our community. The Salvation Army's annual Coats for Kids event helps to provide coats to thousands of children in Indianapolis. Help us prepare for this great event at the Indiana State Fairgrounds!

Setup week will take place Oct. 12-16 at the fairgrounds. The day will be split into two shifts, 9am-12pm and 1-4pm each day. Volunteers will be helping to set up tables, banners, coat racks, etc. in preparation for distribution day.

Volunteers 13 and older are welcome to volunteer for this event. We are looking to have 15-30 volunteers per shift per day. This is a great opportunity for school groups or sports teams during fall break! Please send all inquiries to Stevi.Cochrane@usc.salvationarmy.org for more information.

About The Salvation Army

Location:

6060 Castleway West Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46254, US

Mission Statement

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Description

Using both paid staff and volunteers, we repond to disasters locally, nationally and internationally. Moreover, we repond to individual plights within Indiana whether the circumstances involve domestic violence, substance abuse, at risk children, homelessness, joblessness and other situations where people need help and training. We have multiple programs and service-specific centers in and around Indiana. We have special events as fundraisers, donation collections and to increase awareness. "Need knows no season" so we are in constant pursuit of finding ways to make a difference and offer the gift of God's love.
