Foster a medium/large dog!!

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Volunteers in Defense of Animals

  • 5 people are interested

We are in search for 5-8 dedicated, regular fosters for medium/large dogs! These dogs may include but may not be limited to:

- high-energy dogs needing more exercise and stimulation than being cooped up in a kennel
- senior dogs who fare better in a calm environment
- dogs who are more difficult to place (due to color, breed, etc.)

ALL dogs are people-friendly, though we do have some shy dogs here and there we need fosters for.

Keep in mind that YOU are the decision maker in what kind of dog you want to foster. We are the matchmakers!

Fostering typically does not last for over 1 month per dog. Typically, dogs will find homes within 2-4 weeks, though sometimes longer depending on their personalities. Fosters are responsible for bringing their foster dogs to our adoption center (Rowland Heights) for adoption appointments and other necessities - veterinary care is 99% of the time fully taken care of prior to fostering out a dog. All dogs are vaccinated and fixed before leaving to foster care. Fosters do NOT pay anything. Fosters do NOT have to provide supplies, though we absolutely love fosters who can!

HOW TO START: apply here - www.vida4animals.org/foster-application/ and we will get back to you on making the perfect match! We will ask you further questions.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to protect and help dogs and cats from homelessness neglect, abuse, cruelty and abandonment. VIDA does not belong to any one person but instead to all of its volunteers. We adopt out about 50-60 cats and dogs per month - we rescue dogs from high-kill shelters, low income neighborhoods, and from the streets of Mexico. We also have spay and neuter operations and have saved thousands of animals already. www.vida4animals.org www.instagram.com/vidarescue www.facebook.com/vidarescue

Description

Volunteers in Defense of Animals is a non-profit organization working to end the suffering and mistreatment of dogs and cats in Southern California. We bring spay and neuter services to areas where families cannot afford them; we facilitate the rescue, foster care, and adoption of animals whenever possible, and we offer education and support to those involved in the care of animals.

We have found forever homes for hundreds of dogs and cats, with around 4-5 new adoptions taking place each week. Many of our dogs come from local high-kill shelters before they are euthanized and on the streets of both the US and Mexico. We also have spay/neuter operations in low-income neighborhoods in the US and in Mexico and have spayed/neutered thousands of pets.
