An exciting and impactful role working with a team of developers on a weekly basis to accomplish organization-wide objectives. You will be further developing the open-sourced village portal which is a web application in REACT/Django REST. This platform will be the first open-sourced mentoring software to help NGOs with their mentoring and coaching efforts. Currently, it supports the Village Book Builders & Invictus Institute Mentoring Program which allows thousands of volunteers to be weekly mentors in schools/libraries to students in developing countries. As Covid-19 has limited many rural students' access to school resources globally, mentoring is sometimes their only educational delivery. This mentoring portal is essential to our ability to offer mentoring opportunities to these students in need. It connects the world and further social entrepreneurship. Many of us personally have experienced such change. Our operations team needs various business-critical features built ASAP.

Moreover, back-end developers will be responsible for maintaining and improving the back-end, Django admin view, databases, scripts of the portal for users, mentors, mentees, mentor advisors, program directors, and others to use and connect with each other. Our mission is to instill a generational difference among villages around the world by bringing hope through books. We have village libraries all over the world including in Peru, Nepal, Belize, Ghana, and more. You can work with us internationally by working in one of our libraries, or you can work with us domestically by helping coordinate new library opportunities.

  • As much time as you can give - the team meets regularly on line to go over tasks and discuss the projects. Meetings are generally held twice a week for 1 hour and can be arranged according to volunteers schedules.
  • JavaScript Experience is a plus. Most importantly, a passion for the mission of Village Book Builders and a willingness to work with the team and learn.
