Everyone should have access to healthy food. Second Harvest provides nutritious groceries and fresh produce at distribution sites throughout Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. These sites are volunteer-run and rely on committed, dedicated volunteers who can support the effort on an ongoing basis. We invite you to join us in providing a warm and welcoming environment for our clients.
Food loading is a hands-on volunteer activity that involves loading pre-packed food boxes into vehicles that will deliver groceries to home delivery clients. This volunteer opportunity does not involve interacting with or delivering groceries to home delivery clients directly. This volunteer activity requires repeated lifting of heavy boxes that weigh up to 35 lbs. and is best suited for volunteers with strong mobility and no back issues. This is a fun, physical outdoor activity working alongside other volunteers and community members. The volunteer must be willing and able to work with people of different backgrounds and nationalities, exhibit compassion and sensitivity, and maintain strict confidentiality of all member and volunteer information.

Description
Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is a private non-profit organization that collects and distributes more than 12 million pounds of food each month. We currently serve an average of over 500,000 individuals each month; 60% are low income families and 20% are seniors. By building collaborative networks, we efficiently distribute food by leveraging donations of money, food and human resources. But we cannot do it alone.
