Save lives and prevent injury by providing leadership and/or support to Disaster Cycle Services team members through The Pillowcase Project. The Pillowcase Project is a national youth preparedness program offered by Red Cross regions across the country. The 40- or 60-minute presentation provides emergency preparedness education to youth in grades 3-5 (ages 8-11) virtually, in school classrooms and other settings. The Preparedness Division provides appropriate preparedness programming within a community to assist community members to prepare for home fires and other disasters. This position is responsible for supporting and engaging the members assigned to The Pillowcase Project team, which includes ensuring assigned volunteers are provided with outstanding support and management. In this position, volunteers will follow all standards and procedures for implementing and delivering The Pillowcase Project in the region, work with volunteer services to recruit volunteers and ensure all presenters are trained according to program requirements, and coordinate presentations in the same zip codes as the Home Fire Campaign, and build community partnerships with organizations like Boys and Girls Clubs and YMCAs, as well as other disaster partners.
