Lane Victory Maritime Center

S.S. Lane Victory
Our historic ship which has served this country in three wars.

Hi, welcome aboard the SS LANE VICTORY. My name is (your name here). How can I be of your assistance today? Sounds easy right. The Lane Victory Maritime Center is seeking folks to work our gangway booth (admission booth) and welcome people aboard our historic ship.

Requirements:
Greeters must be at least 16 years old. You must be able to handle ladders (more like stairs, but a bit steeper and with railings) to work along the tour route. Qualified folks with mobility challenges should contact the Volunteer Coordinator about possible accommodations. Scheduling is flexible, with a minimum requirement of 10 hours per month.

Benefits:

As a Lane Victory Maritime Center volunteer, you are joining the crew of the SS LANE VICTORY! We are a community that is sustained by the drive to preserve and interpret this iconic and unique piece of history for generations to come. You will work with a dedicated and highly motivated group of volunteers from multiple generations including mariners who served aboard the similar historical ships.

Volunteers receive a discount in our ship’s store as well as certain area restaurants and businesses. Our volunteers are also recognized with a variety of awards and ceremonies that celebrate milestones of service and outstanding accomplishments. Come be a part of history today!

Processing and Training:
Prospective volunteers must complete an application before our New Volunteer Orientation (NVO). Prospects may apply and interview for multiple opportunities, but acceptance is determined by each department head and the Board of Directors.

New volunteers are paired with a Sponsor within their first month and are expected to attend a one day orientation class that is offered each month. Departmental training is provided through one-on-one mentorship.

Please be patient as staff hours have been reduced during the COVID-19 crisis. We will respond to your application as soon as we are able.
