FISH of Vancouver is seeking volunteers for all positions and shifts at our food pantry!
Because of the pandemic, more of our neighbors are at greater risk of going hungry than ever before and we need all hands on deck to make sure that everyone who needs it can access fresh, healthy food.
Volunteers help pack mixed produce, dairy or meats into bags throughout the day as it comes in from donor businesses. If you like to play with food, this is the job for you! Packing involves checking expiration dates and food quality, standing, and some lifting. We are able to accommodate many different ability levels.
We are also seeking volunteers to help clients check-in and distribute food via our contact-free system.
We have volunteer opportunities Monday thru Friday on both the 9-12 shift and the 12-3 shift as well as flexible hour options to accommodate other schedules.
If this sounds fun, please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator at email@example.com or (360)566-3243.
FISH currently asks that everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing. We are open to volunteers age 6-80 (adult supervision is required for those under 16), but do ask that volunteers who are high-risk refrain from joining us at this time.
We are unable to offer community service hours that are a requirement for a legal offense or fine.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
About Fish of Vancouver
906 Harney Street, Vancouver, WA 98660, US
Driven by compassion, dignity, and respect, and empowered by committed volunteers, we are a nonprofit organization that provides nutritious food for community members in need.
Friends in Service to Humanity (FISH) OF Vancouver is the largest food pantry in Clark County. The area we serve has the lowest income level in Clark County. Providing over 50 years of uninterrupted service, FISH and its volunteers have become a vital support in providing food for members of the community experiencing hunger.
FISH was founded in 1969 in a small rented space in St. Paul Lutheran Church in downtown Vancouver. On November 3, 2015 we opened the doors of our new and larger facility with a focus on expanding our service delivery to the community. In 2017 -2018 we distributed 100,00 pounds of food to 1,600 households each month to 4,500 adults, children, and seniors.
We thrive thanks to our 180 volunteers who give of their time and talent to support our most vulnerable community members. Last year our dedicated volunteers provided 20,000 hours of service which is the equivalent of over 9 full-time employees!
We are seeking volunteers to help pack produce, dairy and meat products into bags for our contact-free distribution to over 100 clients per day, five days a week. Please contact Dori Miller at firstname.lastname@example.org or (360)566-3243.
