Volunteers have a profound impact on the quality of life experienced by our patients. AseraCare Hospice has several volunteer roles, including our Direct Patient Care Volunteers. Direct Patient Care volunteers are trained to visit with our patients physically, virtually or by telephone communication. Many of our patients are in need of extra companionship and/or socialization. Playing cards, listening to music, doing crafts, or just being there can brighten someone's day tremendously. Volunteers can also offer the patient's family an hour or two of respite. Respite is requested when a family member needs to run errands, visit the doctor, take a shower, etc. AseraCare Hospice services six counties including: Carroll, Benton, Henry, Weakley, Obion, and Lake County.

A hospice volunteer is a special part of the hospice team. If you have a desire to make a difference in the lives of the terminally ill or those who are grieving by giving of your time to assist a patient, family member, or our office staff, then you have the qualities we're looking for in our volunteers. Volunteering includes making scrap books, blankets, cards, treats, reading, writing, visiting, and much much more.
New hospice volunteers participate in free training that provides information regarding the hospice philosophy of care.
