Marketing Interns / Students Needed To Promote Crisis Telephone Line

We operate a nightly telephone Care Line. People call in into the phone line from all over the U.S., though we are mostly focused in the Bay Area.

Callers present a range of needs, from simple loneliness and isolation, to wanted someone else to bear witness to a suffering or a joy from their life, to crisis situations, such as suicide ideation or abuse.

Our trained volunteer Care Line Counselors come from a variety of spiritual traditions. We are multifaith. We do not judge or convert our callers. We simply listen deeply, with loving presence, and we offer spiritual care that fits their traditions and understanding of reality. Even agnostics, atheists, humanists and so on call into our Care Line regularly. Others want a prayer from their tradition, or a guided meditation.

We seek volunteers or students with an interest or background in marketing. The project is to develop marketing campaigns to raise awareness about the availability of our Care Line. We want to increase the number of callers calling in. Marketing campaigns can include print marketing, direct marketing (e.g., calling other referral phone or text lines or other organizations, such as nursing homes or care facilities), or digital/social media campaigns.

Social media is easier for us, so getting creative about traditional or direct or tangible campaigns would be most welcome, and could reach more of the folks on the streets or other marginalized populations. We are a street ministry. Something urban and gritty would be welcome too.

We welcome students working in class or school projects. We are happy to create tailored internships and sign off on volunteer hours as appropriate. We welcome individuals and groups. We welcome folks from anywhere in the world who are inspired to help.
