8 out of 10 COVID-19 deaths in the US are people aged 65+. Keeping seniors safe in their homes helps them stay alive. We need help getting groceries to seniors in Alameda County!
LIFE ElderCare needs volunteer drivers to deliver grocery bags to seniors in Peralta Village and Lockwood Gardens (subsidized housing complexes in Oakland). Pick-up starts at 12noon and deliveries finish around 2pm. Must have access to vehicle and be able to show proof of auto insurance and valid Driver’s License. Must be willing to submit to a background check and DMV record at no cost to the volunteer.

Description
LIFE ElderCare provides the basics of life - food, friendship, support, and enhanced mobility - to seniors, age 60 and older. Meals On Wheels delivers hot, nutritious meals; Friendly Visitors provides weekly in-home companionship; Assisted Transportation links volunteers with seniors (and non-seniors with disabilities) who need destination assistance; and Fall Prevention offers in-home, personalized services to reduce the risk of falling. For those with more complex needs, we also offer case management and care coordination throughout Alameda County.
