Provide Homebound Seniors with Groceries
Neighborly Care Network
Neighborly/Meals on Wheels Pinellas County has expanded its food delivery services to homebound seniors to include grocery deliveries! This new service fills gaps many of our seniors have in their access to food. Volunteers meet at these locations:
- RCS Food Pantry in Clearwater
- Sunshine Center in St Petersburg
Volunteers assist once or twice per month
to pack the grocery bags then deliver them to a list of about 10-15 clients. Hours are generally 8:45am to noon.
Volunteers complete an online application (link below), attend orientation, and are background screened prior to service. Volunteers are needed currently in the Clearwater region and St. Petersburg, however, we plan to expand to other locations in the county soon. Snowbirds welcome! We also have implemented a number of safety precautions to keep our volunteers and clients safe during the pandemic. Neighborly volunteers practice physical distancing and do not enter clients' homes.
