Chaparral House is a Skilled Nursing Facility dedicated to providing excellent person-centered care to elders. We are currently unable to have volunteers inside the facility due to the COVID19 pandemic, but we do have these virtual and outdoor volunteer opportunities. We are looking for volunteers who could make a weekly or twice monthly commitment for the near future.
We are also unable to gather residents together for group activities at this time,, which is why the activity is structured as is detailed below. These performances would be scheduled for either 11 am or 3:30 pm on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. There might be a possibility of doing live outside performances at those times on a weekend.
VIRTUAL MUSICIANS: This would be video call performancesvia Face Time or Skype. Performances would be for 1 hour, for 2-4 residents, one resident at a time.
LIVE MUSICIANS: Musicians would play music for the residents outside on our patio, Volunteers would stay outside on the patio at least 12 feet away from residents inside. The patio door would be open (screen door closed) with a resident there inside. Volunteers would need to wear a mask so it would need to be an instrument that would work for this and there could be no singing involved. They would play for one hour, for 2-4 residents, one resident at a time.
