COVID-19 has shown the light on how important access to food and how big the issue is at hand when it comes to food security. HARBEL now provides since March 2020, grab and go meals and fresh produce. 2 times a week, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Volunteers are needed 2 days a week to assist in bagging pre-made meals, assisting with loading of food deliveries and providing the meals and fresh produce to individuals as they arrive to the station.
HARBEL serves between 300-400 individuals per week.

Prevention and Rehabilitation

Services include:

  • Free community-based substance abuse prevention groups in Northeast Baltimore City for upper elementary and middle school students
  • Community education through displays and presentations
  • Enhanced GED program for adult substance abuse clients
  • School-based individual and group substance abuse and prevention counseling
  • On site individual, family and group substance abuse and prevention counseling
  • Specialized treatment services for DUI/DWI offenders and those with juvenile or criminal justice involvement
  • Parenting group
Housing
  • 1st time home buyers counseling
  • Settlement Assistance
  • Financial literacy and credit counseling

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • 2-4 hours a week
  • Volunteers are required to practice CDC guidelines. Wearing a mask at all times, in some instances gloves and practicing social distancing. Additional masks are available and will be provided on site, as well as gloves.
