Plant It Forward (PIF) empowers refugees to develop sustainable urban farming businesses that produce fresh, healthy food for our community. Our organization secures land, trains and mentors farmers, and facilitates sales to local markets. Located throughout Houston, our farms are cultivated with sustainable practices that enrich the land and support the surrounding community.

We are looking for a Veggie Educator to help create and edit our online Veggie Guide. We have already started building the guide but need help to finalize content, take 'veggie portraits,' research additional recipes, and create additional posts. There are over 70 crops in our line up! We are looking for veggie enthusiasts with an excellent eye for detail and strong writing skills to help us complete this project.

Please contact Daniella at daniella@plant-it-forward.org for more details.

Mission Statement

Plant It Forward empowers refugees to develop sustainable urban farming businesses that produce fresh, healthy food for our community.

Description

We envision thriving farmers, enriching Houston's vibrant landscape. Since 2012, we have enabled refugees with agricultural backgrounds to put their skills to use by creating urban farming businesses. Plant It Forward provides training, access to land, and access to fair markets. Our hardworking farmers do the rest.

To date, we have trained over 40 aspiring farmers and have supported 18 farm startups. We currently work with a network of 14 farmers operating 8 farms on 4 sites throughout urban Houston.
