Whether virtually or in-person, teachers are heading back to their classrooms. Teaching has never looked so different, and you can make a difference in thousands of classrooms with just a few hours a week. By working with Teachers' Treasures, you'll be putting tools in the hands of students that desperately need them for their academic success.

We are a free store for teachers in Marion County. Teachers shop with us monthly to fill up their carts with thousands of dollars worth of materials for their classrooms. Due to economic impacts of Covid-19, many families are struggling to send their students back into classrooms with the materials they need. Teachers rely on TT and our volunteers to provide these supplies so that students never have to worry about having something--and as vital--as a pencil.

Volunteers are needed to help us check teachers in and out on our computers, as well as clean, and restock.

By volunteering with us, you'll be making education possible.

All teachers are masked to wear masks and gloves. Plexiglass will seperate volunteers from teachers. Frequent cleanings and wipe downs are being performed on surfaces and social distance is being enforced. We are only allowing a small amount of teachers in the building at one time and they must make an appointment to shop.

Get out of the house and impact students and teachers.

Volunteers are wanted Monday-Thursday 2:45pm-5:45pm at 1800 East 10th Street. We also need one or two ongoing volunteers for our NW Satellite location at 5525 W 34th St, Indianapolis, IN 46224. This would preferably be an ongoing position, but we do understand circumstances may impact your ability to commit.

Mission Statement

Teachers' Treasures obtains and distributes school supplies to teachers of classrooms and students in need.

Description

Every day at public, charter, private, and parochial schools located throughout Marion County, children of all ages attend class without the most basic supplies they need to get a good education. Dedicated teachers are often willing to pay for these much needed supplies out of their own pockets to make sure the kids in their classrooms have the necessary tools to learn.

Teachers' Treasures, in partnership with local businesses, charitable foundations, neighborhood organizations and individual contributors, helps fill this need by operating a volunteer based "Free Store for Teachers." Donated educational supplies and other materials are distributed via this unique conduit to teachers for the benefit of their students.

Teachers' Treasures offers a variety of group volunteer activities that can be tailored to your group or organization. Please contact Hanna Yaeger-Busch at hanna@teacherstreasures.org or call 317-264-1758 for more information.

Teachers who volunteer 2 or more hours can earn extra shopping passes. Teachers who are normally ineligible to shop can also volunteer to earn opportunities to shop.
