Concerned about climate change?

Feeling like doing something about it?

Become part of our team and help us make a difference!

A volunteer experience / internship / class project with Chemists Without Borders - NGO - will allow you to work close to a biochar producer and farmers in a truly international project !

We use biochar in agriculture to help farmers increasing yields and soil fertility. This also reduces chemicals, fertilizer and water use and it helps the planet, all at the same time!

Something more about the project:

We are promoting the usage of biochar since its production prevents carbon from dead biomass from going back to the atmosphere as CO 2 , where it contributes to global warming.

For more information on biochar, please visit: https://www.chemistswithoutborders.org/Active-Projects/climatechange.php

We have built up four teams of volunteers in the USA, each one paired with 1-3 biochar companies. The volunteers attend webinars and meetings regularly, during which they learn about climate change and the role of biochar in agriculture (and more). We produce visual content to distribute in schools, universities, farmer markets and social media in order to raise awareness on the climate change problem and its possible solutions. We have contributed already to find numerous customers to support biochar companies which we collaborate with. Each customer will have a tailored plan for adding biochar into their soil. A team of scientists and volunteers will follow the progresses by collecting data on soil quality, water intake and final yield of their product over the course of the years. We aim at publishing and sharing our data to demonstrate the good impact that biochar can have on the fertility of the soil and all the advantages that this brings to the growers. At the same time, we would like to highlight the importance that regenerative agriculture and biochar have for our planet.

Currently, we are looking for volunteers based in the US, particularly in the following states: New York, California
