Mission Statement

Hope Loves Company is the only nonprofit in the United States dedicated to providing emotional and educational support to children and young adults who have or have had a loved one battling ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) or Lou Gehrig's disease.

Description

There are approximately 30,000 people in the United States who live with ALS and it is estimated that of those 30,000, 85% have children.

Hope Loves Company was founded by Jodi O'Donnell-Ames after she realized the lack of resources available to her children, who all lost a parent to ALS before the age of 12. Hope Loves Company supports children and families affected by ALS with free programs and resources, including Camp HLC, Hugs of Hope care packages, Family Fun Days, educational materials and children's books, Teen Retreats, and more. Our premier program, Camp HLC, is a 3-day weekend retreat where children and families enjoy recreational activities such as swimming, canoeing, and fishing, while also learning coping skills and receiving much-needed support. All of our programs are provided to families affected by ALS at no cost.

Since its founding, Jodi and her team have hosted nineteen Camp HLCs across the United States and helped countless children and families. In 2018, HLC delivered 50+ Hugs of Hope care packages to children affected by ALS. The reach of Hope Loves Company is nationwide and we host Camp HLC in NJ, MA, IN, CA, FL, and IL.
