Team Building Opportunity: Build Emergency Housing For Homeless Individuals at Risk of Covid-19

Habitat for Humanity East Bay/Silicon Valley is partnering with the City of San Jose to build emergency sleeping cabins for those in our community that don’t have access to safe shelter. The unsheltered are especially vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus, and these housing communities will prioritize those at particularly high risk for complications due to age or medical conditions. By providing a way to safely self-isolate, shelter-in-place, and access sanitation and key services, Habitat is helping to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our community.

As the Bay Area continues to shelter in place, the homeless community faces the ever growing challenge of finding a safe space to shelter. After opening earlier this year, Habitat’s first Bridge Housing Community in San Jose has already began transitioning people from homelessness into permanent housing. As that community continues putting our unhoused neighbors on the path to stable housing, we are hard at work building another 40-cabin community to open on Felipe Avenue and we need your help!

Team Building days with Habitat are a great way to bring your team together outside of the office and work together while giving back to your community. Whether you join us having never picked up a hammer, have experience as a tradesperson, or find yourself somewhere in between, sign up to build with us and learn new skills, and have fun while supporting affordable housing! We provide all the tools, materials and instructions for the day with strict safety measures in place to make sure your team has a fun and safe experience. Habitat asks for a financial contribution of $3,000 per 10 volunteers along with our Team Building programs to help offset the cost of materials and to support Habitat’s vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Our on-site volunteer days can engage up to 20 volunteers per day with full and half day shifts available for Team Building groups!
