Spanish Speaker- JFS Drive-Up Food Pantry Volunteer

The JFS Food Pantry provides food--both non-perishable and perishable items, personal hygiene products, cleaning supplies, children's and adult diapers and pet food to over 700 families and individuals throughout the Kansas City community. Currently during the COVID-19 pandemic, JFS is serving clients through a drive-up model. All clients have an appointment ahead of time.

JFS is looking for Spanish speaking volunteers to join the volunteer team and provide support during JFS Drive-Up Food Pantry hours. Commitment is weekly or every other week for a 2.5-3 weekday shift.

Volunteers will provide a welcoming environment when clients drive up, ask a few questions to be able to provide some personalization and volunteers bring out the boxes of food to the client's car.

Volunteers must be over 18 and be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.

Training:

  • All volunteers are background checked and do a short virtual training and

COVID-19 Procedures:
  • All JFS volunteers and staff wear masks, social distance and go through a COVID screening ahead of every shift
  • Volunteer shifts are limited to 3 volunteers to allow for social distancing
  • All client interaction is outside
