We are currently looking for volunteers to become both long-term and short-term Breeder Caretakers. Our Breeder Caretakers care for and provide a safe environment for both the breeder dog and the puppies they whelp. While fostering a breeder dog, you can expect to: record heat cycles, take the breeder dog to the vet for breeding purposes (ultrasounds, hormone level checks, and wellness checks), help whelp the puppies, record puppy information, work with and communicate to Dogs for Better Lives’ representatives, and other various tasks. Experience is preferred but not required.
Note: All of our dogs are bred with the sole purpose of providing us with puppies who will one day have the potential to become future assistance dogs. Our goal is to purposefully breed dogs with specific temperaments and health clearances so that we may obtain puppies who have those temperaments and health clearances to work in our Autism, Hearing, and Facility Assistance Dog programs. We do not breed pet dogs.
Join us in our mission to change lives by becoming a Breeder Caretaker today! For more information, please contact Hannah Crane at: hannah@dogsforbetterlives.org

Description
Dogs for Better Lives professionally trains dogs to become Hearing Assistance Dogs, Facility Dogs, and Autism Assistance Dogs. We do this at a minimal cost of an application fee to the client.
Dogs for Better Lives travels to the client for an interview. Following the application process the dog is delivered to the client by the Certified Assistance Dog Trainer that trained the dog. The Trainer spends several days supporting the client in their daily activities with their new Assistance dog.
Dogs for Better Lives maintains a lifelong commitment to our clients and dogs!
