During public health crises like the COVID-19 outbreak, those living in poverty are disproportionately impacted. Help us better serve the City's most vulnerable population by preparing and delivering ready to eat meals for the guests of St. Vincent de Paul Society -SF.

Ready to eat Meals-are especially helpful for our clients and can be prepared by groups of people in a central location, or by working remotely and coordinated through a single volunteer. We accept ready to eat meal donations on Wednesday’s, Friday’s & Saturday’s, between the hours of 11-2pm. Please contact Kelly Garrett, Volunteer Manager to coordinate kgarrett@svdp-sf.org.

Volunteer requirements: Volunteers are responsible for purchasing and ordering ingredients, making sandwiches and delivering them to the drop-off spot, 525 5th St, San Francisco, CA.

Goal: Prepare a minimum of 150 sandwiches that are bagged, wrapped or sealed individually.

Ingredients: Meat: 4 oz; Cheese: 2 oz ; Veggie or PBJ; Bread: 2 slices of white, wheat or sourdough bread only; Extras: Fruit, chips, small juice or water.

Virtual participation: We encourage the volunteer teams to record their time and efforts via video or pictures and share them with the SVDP Community through our social media channels. This would also provide an opportunity for the volunteer’s teams to connect virtually and cheer each other on!

If your group or organization is not able to make sandwiches, a donation to help cover the daily expenses, would gladly be accepted. Please donate here on our website https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/svdpsf

About St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco

Location:

525 5th Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, US

Mission Statement

The St. Vincent de Paul Society was established in San Francisco more than 155 years ago and was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1964. It remains one of the oldest charities, as well as one of the largest social service agencies in the City. Our mission is to offer hope and service on a direct person-to-person basis, working to break the cycles of poverty, homelessness, addiction and domestic violence. We believe in recognizing the humanity in each and every one of us, no matter who we are or how we live. Every day, we welcome hundreds of women, children and men who are alone and suffering. We know from experience that no one can change or grow until they are cared for and regain stability, so that’s where we start - by showing them kindness, unconditional respect, and the support they need to begin their journey forward.

Description

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco (SVDP-SF) offers 2 programs to help people overcome poverty, homelessness, addiction & domestic violence:

1) MSC-South - the largest homeless shelter in Northern CA, supporting approximately 400 people a day, every day of the year, by providing shelter, two meals a day, case management, and various other services.

2) Riley Center - our program that offers safe and confidential supportive services, community resources, and shelter to domestic violence survivors and their children.

We could not possibly accomplish all that we do without our generous and hard-working base of volunteers. Please see our current volunteer opportunities to see how you can help us advance our mission!
