Hands for Holly Memorial Fund is a nonprofit charity that offers financial assistance to families in need who are caring for a child with cancer. We offer financial aide, education, navigation and planning services to families throughout the Carolinas. We are in need of a volunteer to help coordinate our program services with our partner hospitals and 3rd party administrator. The position requires approximately 3-5 hours per week. Position Summary/Objective

As the Family Assistance Program Coordinator, you play a critical role in improving the level of care for each of the families we serve. At Hands for Holly, we never forget that.

Key aspects of the Family Assistance Program Coordinator:

  • Works with our 3rd party administrator to track the level of assistance being offered to the families we serve.
  • Maintains relationships with our hospital partners and with the families we assist.
  • Help us build a referral db of non-profit organizations that can be leveraged by our families.
  • Secures testimonials for marketing purposes.
  • Secures family speakers, interviews, attendance at events, as feasible.
  • Provides reporting on program financials and family demographics.
  • Assist with the creation of family stories for marketing use, as needed.

Requested Experience and Competencies:

Requires a high school diploma or GED; college degree preferred
Customer service experienced.
Healthcare or social work experience preferred.
Knowledge of computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and e-mail.
Ability to demonstrate phone etiquette and customer service skills.
Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently.

Mission Statement

Hands for Holly is a 501(c)3 charity that was co-founded by 14-year old Holly Wade as she was battling brain cancer. Hands for Holly's mission is to provide financial assistance to families in need caring for a child with cancer. Our vision is to eliminate Cancer Related Financial Toxicity (CRFT) by providing a continuum of assistance for families caring for a child with cancer through direct financial assistance and access to financial planning and education. We do this by paying essential expenses (i.e. mortgage, utilities, transportation, etc.) to alleviate financial stress and give families the ability to focus on accessing care, getting well, and being at their child's bedside when they need them the most.

Description

Our story began on December 10, 2015, two days before Co-Founder Holly Ann Wade’s 14 th birthday, when an MRI uncovered a tumor resting in the thalamus section of her brain. It was during Holly’s treatments that Holly and her parents learned of the profound financial needs of families caring for children with pediatric cancer. They met families who had to decide whether to pay a medical bill or the mortgage, or to stay with their hospitalized child or go to work. Witnessing how cancer had altered other families’ lives concerned Holly greatly and she wanted to help do something about it. Unfortunately, Holly lost her battle on July 1, 2016, but not before she worked with her mother to define the mission of the Hands for Holly Memorial Fund. Over the past three years, Hands for Holly has bridged partnerships to donate more than $450,000 to families, helping over 1,350 people.
