Activity Summary:
Be a part of serving the community in our food pantry.
The Food Pantry Assistant will help with the following:
- Collecting food
- Bagging groceries
- Stocking shelves
- Packing food boxes
Monday-Friday 8:30-10:30 & 10:30-12:30
Thursday evening 4:30-7:30pm
Qualifications:
- Healthy individuals age 14 or older
- Must enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds
- Possess effective communication abilities
- Friendly personality and smile
- Must be able to comfortably lift cases of food (30+lbs)
- Reliable, professional and friendly
- Pass initial screening process
- Bilingual abilities are a plus
- Bring and wear personal face mask
- Clear brief health questionnaire at start of shift
Policies:
Alcohol, drugs, and smoking are not permitted at any Salvation Army facilities or volunteer sites.
Pants/shorts and a shirt with sleeves must cover the waist and fit comfortably. Transparent and tight-fitting clothes are not permitted. For your safety, closed toe shoes are required.

And, The Salvation Army is delivering the most critical services -- food, shelter, emergency assistance and disaster relief.
In communities throughout Chicago and the surrounding five-county area, we extend emergency and supportive assistance from 28 corps community centers, 80 service extension units, the Emergency Disaster Services Center, residential programs, mobile units, and several counseling sites.
