At Friendly Visiting and Telephone Reassurance - Solano, our mission is to connect older adults who are at risk for social isolation with caring individuals who volunteer to help combat negative health effects associated with loneliness.

We provide our volunteers with training to offer safety, companionship, and engagement through consistent weekly telephone calls, video conferencing, in-home visits (when safe*), and a variety of other innovative quality interactions. These visits also serve as a way to assess for safety risks and any unmet needs with the opportunity to connect clients with necessary community resources and services that they might not have been able to access otherwise.

Whether you are participating in video chats, preparing care packages, or playing games virtually or in person, this program offers a number of ways to provide care and peace of mind while enriching your life and the lives of older adults in our community.

*Since the coronavirus pandemic began, it has changed the world, our community, and the elder care industry as we know it. Given the immense impact on older adults, our volunteers and staff will be adhering to all COVID-19 regulations while maintaining quality interaction and care throughout the pandemic.

Mission Statement

Empowering, Educating, & Cultivating Communities Where Our Vulnerable Seniors Can Age with Justice, Dignity, & Respect.

Description

Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa, Solano, and Alameda is an ever-growing agency currently with three distinct programs that focus on empowering aging adults.

1) The Ombudsman Services Program: Investigates allegations of abuse and neglect of elderly and dependent residents currently living in Long-Term Care Facilities in Contra Costa, Alameda, and Solano Counties.

2) The Elder and Dependent Adult Justice Program: Serve victims of crime who are community-dwelling adults ages 65+ or dependent adults ages 18-64 with mental and/or physical disabilities that require assistance from others for normal activities, safety, and protection.

3) The Friendly Visitor and Telephone Reassurance Program (FV/TR): Offers Companionship, Friendship, and Support to adults 60+ who are at HIGH RISK for social isolation and loneliness.

We believe aging is a natural phase of life, deserving of respect and dignity. Every day we empower, educate, and partner with older and dependent adults to best meet their unique needs - from providing opportunities to stay connected to the activities they love to ensure they are free from neglect and abuse. Because when our elders thrive, we all benefit from their unique contributions and collective wisdom.
