Are you an experienced fund developer? We’re looking for a Fund Development Director for Weekend-Adventures to assist in planning, organizing, and directing our fundraising opportunities, including a major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events, and capital campaigns. The Director works closely with the Executive Director, the Advisory board and at times seek input from our fiscal sponsor.

We are a program, fiscally sponsored by the Social Good Fund, that serves youth and children in San Francisco, who live in disenfranchised neighborhoods with opportunities in the arts, sciences and the outdoors.

Our mission is to create access and opportunities for youth who live in San Francisco, to explore what's possible for themselves and their lives, that motivate and empower them to create a life of their choosing. We do this by leading trips into places and spaces historically not available to them in the arts, sciences and the outdoors.

You will partner with the Founding Executive Director with the grant writing process. We are up to initiating 50 communications with foundations who are in line with our work. Our goal is to raise $150,000 (promised or awarded) by the end of 2020.

We are asking that you:

You will:

  • Take the lead in creating a plan that encompass all the elements for a robust organizational fundraising strategy
  • Organize and implement individual donor campaign
  • Take lead on sourcing individual donors and act as steward for those relationships
  • Develop and oversee a robust virtual fundraising campaign that includes crowd-funding and on-line events
  • Develop and oversee year-end fundraisers
  • Manage communications with grant writer volunteers
  • Review grant drafts prior to submission
  • Prepare required summary reports after grants are awarded
  • Ensure that fund development is carried out in keeping with the organization’s values and mission

Skills:

  • Clear and concise writing ability and verbal communication
  • Ability to analyze and determine fit with organizations mission
  • Interest in working in a start-up environment
  • Experience with and willingness to work remotely
  • Ability to hear beyond the noise - clarity of thought

Mission Statement

Our Mission is to create access and opportunities for youth, living San Francisco, to explore what's possible for themselves and their lives, that motivate and empower them to create a life of their choosing. We do this by leading trips into places and spaces historically not available to them in the arts, sciences and the outdoors.

Description

Weekend-Adventures was created to alleviate poverty in marginalized communities. This includes black, brown and the poor people. But more precisely, we have our eyes set on the children and youth in these communities. We know that this a tall order, and we also know that children are our future, and if we don’t give them a promising childhood, they will not know what a bright future looks like.

Unlike other programs, Weekend-Adventures is not stationary. Our program is designed to take youth out of the neighborhood and into places and spaces that have historically been unavailable to them except MAYBE through a school field trip. What we do is plan weekend outings that take our youth on an adventure. These adventures include the arts, the outdoors and into the sciences.
