Spanish Speaking Greeter needed at the East Bay SPCA's Pet Food Pantry

The Pet Food Pantry assistant serves as essential support for the community by providing dog and cat food to pet owners in need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with set up and clean of pet food pantry.
  • Greet clients as they arrive at the drive-thru.
  • Distribute pet food.
  • All personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided, including vinyl gloves and hand sanitizer. Volunteers will be interacting with the public. The Pet Food Pantry is structured as a drive-thru, with the intention that clients will stay in their car.
  • Training is provided.
Time Commitment:
  • Every other Friday from 10am-2pm.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Have compassion for diverse life experiences and clients undergoing challenging situations.
  • Bilingual language skills in Spanish is required.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Commit to a regular bi-weekly shift.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to transport pet food and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Be courteous and welcoming to all clients, staff, and volunteers.
  • Comply with guidelines outlined in the confidentiality agreement.
  • Be comfortable answering questions and referring to staff for assistance when queries fall outside scope of knowledge.
  • Desire to make a positive impact on the lives of pets and their people.

We are committed to finding homes for adoptable cats and dogs, providing affordable veterinary and spay/neuter services, and educating the public on responsible pet ownership. We are the oldest animal welfare organization in the East Bay and operate two animal shelters and three clinics, serving Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
