Manna Project International

The COVID-19 pandemic is having a profound impact on countries, organizations, and individuals around the world. These are especially unprecedented times for international NGOs and community development organizations who find their operations temporarily suspended.

MPI is committed to advancing our mission of serving our community members in Ecuador and developing social change leaders this fall. To fulfill these goals, we have created a Virtual Community Development Internship. Through this virtual internship, we will offer our interns professional and personal development through meaningful work alongside our staff, volunteers, and community members. Each intern will be responsible for completing tasks within a specific organizational role - Communication & Development, Program Design & Evaluation, or Community Development & Outreach - based on their skills and preferences. Through group work, organizational role tasks, professional development seminars, private Spanish classes, virtual language exchanges, and virtual interactions with community members, we will provide interns with an in-depth overview of all that goes into running a community development organization.

While this internship does not require a fee, during your 3 months with us, one of the tasks that you and the other interns will complete will be to work in partnership with Manna Project’s team on the creation and implementation of a fundraising campaign to raise funds to support the future of Manna Project and our programs in Ecuador. Fundraising is a vital part of our mission and organization. You will gain essential non-profit development skills by working on a campaign from design, to implementation, to promotion, and through to reaching your fundraising goal as a team. You will have fundraising, campaign, and development seminars that will guide you on how to raise these funds.

  • What will be expected of you:

    • You and the team of other interns will be given a fundraising goal and will be coached on how to create and implement a fundraising campaign

    • You will be expected to work well as a team member to come up with new and creative ideas to make this campaign successful

    • You will be expected to understand Manna Project’s mission, vision, and programs, and how fundraising is an essential part to each of these

    • We encourage you to share the campaign with your own network, including family, friends, communities of faith, local businesses, etc., in order to raise as much awareness as possible.

  • Skills you will gain:

    • A deep understanding of the importance of fundraising as it pertains to nonprofit organizations, especially small nonprofit organizations

    • Social media skills

    • Marketing skills

    • Understanding of Peer 2 Peer Platforms

    • Understanding of donor outreach and donor communication

    • Deep understanding of nonprofit finances

    • Deep understanding of Manna Project’s programs in Ecuador, and where every dollar goes

Mission Statement

Manna Project International fosters communities of talented young leaders to become the next generation of social change agents by engaging in collaborative, on-the-ground service with international communities in need.

Description

Manna Project International (MPI) is a volunteer driven 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving international communities through holistic development. The MPI network has a community-forward site located in the Amazon Rainforest where volunteers can join us for mission-driven hands-on impact to help end the cycle of poverty in Indigenous communities in Ecuador by addressing challenges holistically with emphasis on education, livelihood development, and healthcare.

Our international site is run on a day-to-day basis by 13-month fully funded fellows (Program Directors) and short-term 3 to 9 month volunteers (Program Coordinators). Our model is a collaborative community-based approach to development. By working within and alongside communities, our team strives to promote the community's success while simultaneously learning from them. Our approach stresses holistic development, recognizing that the challenges facing these communities are multi-faceted. These challenges must therefore be addressed through a variety of disciplines, as well as a combination of direct service, local leadership, and broader policy change. In Ecuador, our team runs many different community programs in the areas of education, health, and livelihoods development.

Additionally, Manna Project International offers Summer Internships of 4-8 weeks during which Interns assist the Program Directors in running the daily operations in community programs.
