During these uncertain times, how can we help?

Every week we sample water from 22 locations around Aquidneck Island to test the bacteria levels. We then share these results with the public to keep people safe while they are enjoying ocean activities. These samples need to be taken to the RIDOH lab in Providence to be tested, which is where this crucial volunteer job comes in. As the Water Sample Driver, you would drive the water samples from the drop-off location in Newport to the Rhode Island Department of Health in Providence every Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. You would also drop 4 of the samples at the Clean Ocean Access office in Middletown. The commitment for this volunteer job is about 2 hours every Thursday morning between 8:30-10:30 a.m. This is a great opportunity for someone who might be traveling to Providence. A driver’s license and car are required for this volunteer job. We prefer at least a six-month commitment to this job.

Action today so future generations can enjoy ocean activities
Clean Ocean Access is a local environmental group that has three core programs to conserve and protect the coastline of Aquidneck Island. Our three core programs are strongly held together by community events: (1) CLEAN: Eliminating marine debris from the shoreline and changing human behavior to improve ocean health; (2) OCEAN: Improving water quality for permanent year-round clean water, from healthy watersheds to marine ecosystems; (3) ACCESS: Working to protect, preserve, maintain, and expand shoreline access for residents and visitors.
