History Colorado

**Start date May 2021 through summer of 2021: 300 total hours**

Join our Education team as an AmeriCorps member at the History Colorado Center! Volunteers will work with our education staff at the History Colorado to provide direct support by supporting educational programs for school-age children, assisting in museum operations, and in the planning and implementation of programs, specifically our new CoCreate: Build! Makerspace. The volunteer will encourage, facilitate, and organize activities for visitors within the makerspace.

The AmeriCorps members will be able to develop an understanding of guest services and program development within a museum setting while gaining a fundamental understanding of museum operations. Members must be enthusiastic, hardworking, with excellent organizational and communication skills, have either formal or informal experience working with school aged children ages 5 to 16, and have a desire to learn about education in a museum setting.

At its heart, History Colorado fosters cultural understanding, preserves and protects the physical, cultural, and emotional places that are important to our communities, and encourages appreciation of what makes Colorado Colorado. AmeriCorps members will help with making that work possible.

AmeriCorps Member Benefits include:

  • Education award of $1,300 upon successful completion of the program
  • Hands-on experience in the field of K-12 education, higher education, civic learning and engagement, community development, and youth development
