Do you have the gift of gab? Would you like to welcome your neighbor by meeting some older refugees for coffee? Help support older refugees as they adjust to their new lives in the U.S. Some refugees have a basic knowledge of English but need to build their confidence, conversation skills, and comfort with navigating life in the U.S. Time commitment is flexible. Spend some time taking them on Fulfilling outings.

This program also needs people to help deliver much-needed supplies to this community across our diocese.

About Catholic Charities, Diocese of Arlington Newcomer Services

8251 Shoppers Square, Manassas, VA 20111, US

Mission Statement

The mission of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington is rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the official teachings of the Roman Catholic faith. The Gospel proclaims and the Church teaches respect for the dignity and sanctity of human life, from the moment of conception through natural death, and the duty to serve the most vulnerable of God’s people. Therefore, Catholic Charities seeks to implement the Church’s mission of social justice in the Diocese of Arlington in ways that strengthen individuals, families, and communities. Catholic Charities extends its services and resources to all in need; convenes the Catholic community to fulfill the Church’s mission of social justice; and advocates for social justice and seeks to empower others to do the same.

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Arlington's Newcomer Services is made up of two departments - Hogar Immigrant Services and Migration and Refugee Services.
Hogar Immigrant Services responds to the Church’s call for social justice by welcoming the stranger to this country, regardless of ethnicity, religion, nationality, or ability to pay.
Migration and Refugee Services is one of 104 national affiliates of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Since its founding in 1975, the office has resettled and assisted over 30,000 refugees and asylees in the Northern Virginia community.
