At Keep North Charleston Beautiful, we use cardboard and newspaper as a weed barrier to keep weeds out of our gardens without hurting any of the pollinators or wildlife in the gardens. If you have cardboard that you can cut into easy to handle pieces we can use them in the butterfly garden. This is a great way to reuse the cardboard while helping to keep North Charleston blooming with beauty!
If you would like to help with this, please email us at email@example.com. We will send you a example sheet of how to cut the cardboard so that it is easy for our volunteers to install. When you have several bags full of cut cardboard you simply email us and arrange a convenient time to drop off your donation of cardboard!
We ask that any cardboard that is cut down is returned in bags (such as garbage bags, paper reusable bags, or lawn & leaf bags) so that our volunteers can easily install it in the butterfly gardens to use as a safe form of weed control.
