ORGANIZATION: USS Midway Museum

Come volunteer on the USS MIDWAY Museum. We are looking for Safety and Docent volunteers during these tough COVID-19 times. Training provided. And, yes, we're OPEN .... only the hanger deck and flight deck due to the restriction limiting museums to open air facilities. If you haven't visited, please come and see this great popular San Diego landmark. We would love to have you join our over 500 active volunteers.

  • 09:30 AM to 01:00 PM
    Two shifts per day, 7 days a week, choose your day(s) and shift(s)
  • 12:30 PM to 05:00 PM
    Two shifts per day day, 7 days a week. Chose your shift(s) and shift(s).

Preserve the historic USS Midway and the legacy of those who serve, inspire and educate future generations, and entertain our museum guests.

Description

The USS Midway Museum opened to the public in June 2004 and today is one of San Diego’s most popular visitor attractions with world wide audience. The naval aircraft carrier was commissioned in 1945 and served for 47 years supporting U.S. military and humanitarian efforts around the world. Nearly 250,000 sailors and officers served their country aboard the USS Midway before it was decommissioned (retired) in 1992. Museum includes more than 60 audio tour stops including nearly 30 aircraft ranging from the WWII era to today's technology in Naval aviation. Come be a part of this 'city at sea'!

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • Under normal conditions the Safety and Docent positions request 20 hrs. monthly. However, this is being relaxed during the pandemic. The Receptionist position requests two shifts monthly .... 8-10 hrs.
  • Clean, neat appearance, ability to climb ladders, pleasant demeanor.
