Mission: Michelson Found Animals is a Los Angeles nonprofit devoted to animal welfare! We are an organization of avid animal lovers who focus our efforts on decreasing the number of homeless pets in shelters. We have two Adopt & Shop locations with dogs and cats pulled from high-kill shelters, giving them a second chance at adoption with a number of volunteer and foster opportunities. Adopt & Shop is also a nonprofit pet store, offering a variety of pet products and services to help support our adoptions program!
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: We are looking for help from Pet Care Providers! Your key responsibilities will be caring for the welfare of the cats and dogs at Adopt & Shop, which includes kennel cleaning, feeding, dog walks, enrichment, keeping the facility tidy and so much more! Weekday and weekday morning volunteers are always greatly appreciated!
Requirements: 8 hrs per month, 3-month commitment
Physically able to: stand for up to 4 hours, learn how to handle cats and dogs of all breeds and sizes, lift up to 25lbs, stoop, bend, or kneel, perform cleaning duties like sweeping or mopping. Volunteers must communicate effectively with Volunteer team and on-site staff, and follow all protocols and procedures closely to ensure the health and safety of the animals.
*Volunteers age 13-15 years old must volunteer with a parent/guardian up to 25 hours of service, and have Volunteer Agreement & Release for Minors signed prior to volunteering. The form can be found on L.A. Works website Q&A section.
