NORTHERN CALIFORNIA PUBLIC MEDIA, a Sonoma County-based public television and radio station organization, is looking for a Social Media Intern interested in gaining real-world experience while working to further the community connectivity activity of NORTHERN CALIFORNIA PUBLIC MEDIA. Candidates must be hard-working, possess strong online and offline communication skills and be able to work independently on projects under the direction of the Content Manager and FM Executive Assistant.

Duties include:

  • Maintain as active social media presence on social sites to increase visibility, build communities and drive engagement
  • Provide unique and authentic content in the form of written posts, images, video and audio
  • Assist in maintaining consistent brand messaging and organizational voice across all platforms
  • Support and protect NORTHERN CALIFORNIA PUBLIC MEDIA brands by ensuring positive, accurate, informative messaging is maintained and relevant to organizational goals
  • Monitor, track and report on discussion topics and online engagement opportunities
  • Other tasks, responsibilities and projects as needed

Requirements:

  • Current student of marketing, journalism, new media, communications or a related field of study
  • Adept at Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest and similar channels
  • Strong computer skills and attention to detail
  • Able to take direction and work in a collaborative dynamic atmosphere
  • Hard-working and entrepreneurial

Commitments:

  • Have your own transportation to and from the NorCal Public Media office
  • Ability to devote at least 8 hours a week hours each week to the project during business hours 9am-5pm

Northern California Public Media is a service providing non-commercial informational, educational and cultural programming throughout Northern California. KRCB Television 22 is accessible via Comcast Cable and AT&T, U-Verse-TV, DISH and DirecTV Satellite. Digital broadcasting on Channel 22.1, 22.2, and 22.3 KRCB 22 is an affiliate of Public Broadcasting Corporation (pbs). KRCB Radio 91 FM broadcasts from its Rohnert Park, California studio and in addition to local programming is also an affiliate of National Public Radio (npr). Radio 91 is also streaming and podcasting at norcalpublicmedia.org Comcast subscribers can listen to KRCB FM on channel 961.
