Words Alive is seeking energetic, responsible volunteers who love writing to support communication efforts! Words Alive sends roughly one newsletter per week and could use volunteer help to draft content, make graphics, and edit newsletter copy. High-quality newsletters are essential in terms of keeping our supporters informed about the work we’re doing during the COVID-19 pandemic and expanding our reaching, allowing us to connect even more children, teens, and families to the power of reading.

Volunteer Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write newsletter copy on a weekly basis
  • As needed, and as skills allow:
    • Make graphics to be included in the newsletter
    • Brainstorm newsletter strategy
    • Edit newsletter copy
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Volunteer Requirements & Qualifications

  • Has to provide their own computer and have access to the internet
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive & Zoom
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision
  • Must attend a Words Alive Orientation
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
