Partners in English Language Learning is a non-profit organization that has been teaching adult English Language Learners in our region with 40 to 50 trained volunteer tutors for more than 30 years. ESL is a widely used term meaning English as a Second Language. We match each learner with a personal tutor, and together they determine hours and location that are mutually agreeable. The tutoring is always free. While the most visible volunteer role with PiELL is tutoring an English Language Learner, there are many other areas where your efforts can benefit our organization. Database administrator: PiELL uses the Microsoft Access relational database to track separate tables for volunteers, students, and donors. Queries and reports track volunteer/student matches, donor information, demographic information (gender, age, address, start/end dates, ...). A part time program coordinator does daily input as information changes. The database administrator's role is to evaluate data integrity and to create queries and reports (SQL) as needed. Time estimate is 15 hours per month.

This is a volunteer Board of Directors position, the board meets in person once each quarter. Due to sensitivity of database information, position is limited to residents of the local community, Nevada County California.
