Calling all bakers in San Mateo county!

At Cake4Kids we bake and deliver birthday cakes, cupcakes, cookies, bars, and brownies to foster children and at-risk youth -- and all of the baking and decorating is done by you, the volunteers! We aim to raise their self-esteem with this seemingly simple gift on their special day. Cake4Kids supports as many at-risk youth as possible in the communities we serve, including homeless youth, victims of human trafficking and domestic violence, those in foster care, youth living below the poverty line, refugees, and unaccompanied immigrant minors. We are proud to support youth throughout the Bay Area!

If you like to bake and decorate cakes, you would love to volunteer with Cake4Kids. We don't require any time commitment -- bake 1 cake or 10 cakes a year...it's up to you. You choose which child's request to sign up for, based on the theme, type of dessert, and delivery time and location. Then bake and decorate in your own kitchen and when the sweets are complete, you deliver them to the local social services agency that requested them.

Note: All deliveries are made directly to our agency partners, Monday-Friday during business hours.

It's fun and rewarding and truly the "sweetest" volunteer opportunity you can participate in.

Mission Statement

What We Do: We deliver smiles to underserved youth, one birthday cake at a time. Our volunteer bakers, like you, bake and deliver homemade custom birthday cakes, cupcakes and cookies for those who are in foster care, victims of violence or human trafficking, experiencing homeless, LGBTQ+, refugees, or living at or below the poverty line. The seemingly simple gift of a homemade, custom sweet gives the youth joy and helps to build their self-esteem. It's amazing the impact a single cake can make!

Description

Cake4Kids is a National 501c3, started in 2010, providing free custom birthday cakes, cupcakes or cookies to underserved youth. What began as the grassroots effort of our founder and some friends delivering cakes to a handful of cakes to foster children in the San Francisco Bay Area, has grown into a nationwide organization that serves at-risk youth in 17 states (and counting!). To date, Cake4Kids has provided over 50,000 cakes.

There are still thousands and thousands more youth who need our support, so let's make an impact, together!

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 16
  • It's up to you. You choose when and how often you'd like to volunteer. All baked goods must be delivered during business hours, Monday-Friday.
  • All volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Teen volunteers 16-17 years old are required to volunteer with a parent/guardian. Volunteers bake AND deliver; deliveries need to be made during business hours, Monday-Friday.
