Become a Pena Adobe tour guide, also known as a docent, at the Pena Adobe Historical Park in Vacaville, off Interstate 80 at Pena Adobe exit, to the left of the Lagoon Valley Regional Park entrance. No prior experience is necessary. Participants will learn about the history of Vacaville, dating back to 1841, when the Vaca and Pena families arrived in what was then called the Laguna Valley. Graduates from training will then be part of the docent team that offers walking tours of the Pena Adobe, the adjacent Mowers-Goheen Museum and grounds of the Pena Adobe Historical Park on the first Saturdays of each month February thru December from 11:00am -2:00pm and for student or private tours. Since October 10, 2004 the mission of the volunteer led Pena Adobe Historical Society is to preserve the Pena Adobe, a landmark listed on the California State Register of Historic Places for future generations.
