Description: Under general supervision and guidance from the Lead Volunteer, the Firewood Splitting Volunteer is responsible for splitting wood. Reports to: Lead Volunteer and Program Manager Hours: Thursdays, 8:00am to 12:00pm and/or flexible Duties: Observe safety procedures Keep oak and softwoods separate Lubricate splitters prior to splitting wood Use splitters to split wood rounds into firewood Keep splitters clean of debris Cover splitters following use Cover split wood with tarps as needed Clean up slash and load into yard waste containers Turn in expense report at end of month Skills: Ability to lift and carry firewood Experience with splitting wood Requirements: Compassion for seniors and a desire to help others Physically able to lift and carry firewood Background check clearance DMV driving record printout Current and valid driver’s license
